On Arrow this week, Oliver grapples with the truth about his half-sister. Find out below how you can watch the penultimate episode of season 7.

Well, that escalated quickly. For a while, Arrow seemed content to wander, sending characters on miscellaneous adventures. One episode was set entirely in the future, and another found Laurel dabbling in crime. Two episodes ago, Diggle reconciled with his stepfather that we didn’t even know existed.

Last week’s hour started on a similar note. Taking a cue from crime procedurals, “Confessions” revolved around the death of two subway guards, with our heroes taking turns giving their accounts of the incident to the SCPD. It was gimmicky but fun, and Oliver’s realization that Roy had died during his search for the Lazarus Pits was unexpectedly heartbreaking/heartwarming.

But in the final minutes of the episode, we received a wallop of a reminder that Arrow is almost done with its current season. Oliver made a last-ditch effort to appeal to Emiko, only to learn that she is both the leader of the Ninth Circle and tangentially responsible for his father’s death.

What now? Trapped in the debris of an explosion, Oliver has plenty of time to contemplate what these latest revelations mean. Courtesy of The CW, here is the synopsis for this week’s episode, titled “Living Proof”:

"OLIVER IS PUT TO THE TEST — Oliver (Stephen Amell) finds himself in a precarious position. SCPD shows up with a warrant for Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards)."

From that summary, we can infer that Alena is causing trouble. Although she claimed to support Felicity’s decision to shut down Archer, the hacker clearly had other plans. Two episodes seems like a short time to wrap up the storyline of such a central character (actress Emily Bett Rickards revealed recently that she won’t return for season 8), but we’re curious how Arrow will send off Felicity.

We’re even more curious about what Tommy Merlyn is doing. An official still from the episode shows Oliver with his old friend, now with a beard. Most likely, this Tommy is a hallucination; Arrow has brought back characters from the dead that way before, like Adrian Chase/Prometheus last season. In a multiverse, though, anything is possible.

Gordon Verheul directs from a script by Oscar Balderrama and Sarah Tarkoff.
