Xbox announced the May 2019 free games for Live Gold members. This month brings golf and some fun alien invasions to your device
It’s always a good day when we can discuss free games for Xbox Live Gold members. Free video games are always the best way to start a day. Or end a day. Or spend a day!
Below are the offerings for the month of May, the systems they’re on, and the dates they’re available to download:
- Marooners (May 1 to May 31 on Xbox One)
- The Golf Club 2 Featuring PGA Tour (May 16 to June 15 on Xbox One)
- Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon (May 1 to May 15 on Xbox One and Xbox 360)
- Comic Jumper (May 16 to May 31 on Xbox One and Xbox 360)
So which of these are worth your time this month?
Marooners is a fun, casual multiplayer game for up to six players where you play 25 different mini games. It’s in the same vain as the PlayStation May offering of Overcooked. If you’re just looking for something fun to do with friends, this is a good one to throw out there.
If you’re looking for a serious, realistic simulation of a game, you’ll be interested in checking out The Golf Club 2 Featuring PGA Tour. It’s officially licensed by the PGA and is one of the more realistic golfing games available. Do you want to play on a particular course? It’s very possible you’ll be able to do that with this game. So brush the dust off those virtual clubs and get ready to compete!
Are you in the market for a third-person shooter where you take down a ton of aliens? You’ll want to download Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. It has a very old-school feel to the gameplay while still having some modern gaming trends. Some people might get a little thrown off by it, but it makes for an interesting (albeit sometimes repetitive) feel.
Last but not least is Comic Jumper. If you’re having a comic book movie overload, this may be one to skip. The game entails main character Captain Smiley jumping into different genres of comics to help fund his own failing comic book series. The humor is surprising and definitely a welcome addition to the game.
The options for this month for Xbox Live Gold members are all solid choices–and that choice is yours on what you want to check out this month.
And remember–one of the April offerings is still available for download through May 15: Outcast: Second Contact.
