Hermione Granger: Why Hermione wasn’t enough representation for girls everywhere

When talking about the Harry Potter series, many of us relate back to Hermione Granger. But we shouldn’t sit back and think that having just Hermione was representation enough.

Hermione Granger was a great character to look up to as we were kids. She was brave, smart, and helped Harry Potter and Ron Weasley take on the Dark Lord and survive. So, is she enough representation in the series? No. Sure, there were other women but look, even the Harry Potter series was a male-dominated franchise.

With Hermione (and even Minerva McGonagall), we were gifted with fictional characters who were powerful and successful in their chosen fields. But that was two women. In what? A series of mostly men, we have two larger roles filled by women? Again, they’re not the only ones but comparing them to Snape, Dumbledore, all of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professors, and more, their number has to be a bit higher, don’t you think?

Look, even in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series, we’re still lost a bit to male characters. Maybe it’d be nice just to have a female character take on the reigns one time. Why couldn’t it have been Harry’s daughter in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child who had her problems with Harry? Women, even in a series written by a woman, are still pushed to the background and that isn’t something we should be striving for in our media.

The Harry Potter series, of all, should have been better about making female characters more prominent in their story.

Next. Can we learn more about Harry Potter’s story even after Cursed Child or no?. dark

Do you think Hermione Granger was enough or should we have had more representation in regards to female characters throughout the series?
