Cersei Lannister

We absolutely hate to admit this, but it turns out Cersei was right not to get involved in the fight against the White Walkers. It’s annoying because Jon still had no choice to fight the White Walkers, since Winterfell is in an unfortunate spot geographically. Without the help of Dany and her armies (most of whom were done so dirty, RIP Dothrakis), everyone would have died and Cersei would have been next.

Cersei relied on everyone else to do the job for her and now seems in a much stronger position going forward into what Dany is calling “the last war”. She possesses a healthy, full (but still not-elephanted) Golden Company, not absolutely tuckered out from fighting a tireless army of the dead, whereas Dany’s lost at least half of her forces.

We’re likely to see the vast difference in their armies in this episode but from the preview, it looks like there’s still a long way to go until anyone can get quite close enough to defeat Cersei.

Chance of survival: With the Night King defeated, she’s our villain now. She’s got legs yet.

Grey Worm

Despite thinking Grey Worm had been killed four times because of how dark and fast everything was during “The Long Night,” his survival means that I now believe Grey Worm can survive anything. Masked assassins? No trouble. Zombies? Easily defeated. Extremely ominous foreshadowing? Slain without ever really breaking a sweat.

Cersei Lannister’s Golden Company — which doesn’t even have elephants, come on — doenn’t stand a chance now, surely.

Chance of survival: Grey Worm for the Iron Throne.

Our Eyesight — the real winner

The night is dark and full of bodies, but we can’t see who died because Game of Thrones is extremely committed to realism apparently. Dragons, fine, but artificial light? How dare you, Ser?

Fortunately with the literal Night King now defeated, more things look set to happen in the daylight. Things are definitely on the up for this one.

Chance of survival: All hail the Lord of Light.
