Need some help deciding what to read this month? We run down 10 of the most exciting SFF book releases in May.

Ah, spring. It has everything from blossoming flowers and nice weather to blockbusters at the multiplex and a ton of new releases at your local bookstore. May is, of course, prime reading outside weather, no matter if you’re chilling on a patio or heading to the beach for Memorial Day. Luckily, there are plenty of great new options for science fiction and fantasy fans this month!

There are so many interesting new titles headed our way that it’s hard to know where to start, exactly. Several beloved series are wrapping up with final installments or collected codas. A few highly anticipated sequels are headed our way. And some established authors are returning to the book scene with new works — and worlds — for us all to obsess over.

Of course, given that May is a month that’s positively jam-packed with new releases, it might feel impossible to know where to start. But that’s okay, because we’re here to help! We’ve dug through some of the most highly anticipated new releases of the spring — and looked at a few you’ve probably never heard of — to figure out what’s most likely to be worth your time.

Some of these suggestions will probably be things you’ve heard of or maybe even preordered already. (We know, we know, everyone loves Stephanie Garber’s Caraval series.) But some won’t, and a few might even introduce you to a genre or author you wouldn’t have ever expected to love. (See also: Danielle Jensen, Jess Rothenberg.)

Here are 10 of our picks for new SFF releases you should make sure to check out this May. (And whatever you decide to try – enjoy!)
