PlayStation Plus members had to wait a little longer to discover the free games for the month of May. But they have arrived! Take a look.
PlayStation didn’t announce the May offerings for their Plus members until May 1, so members had to wait to hear what they’d be getting a little longer than usual.
However, as a bonus, both April offerings —Conan Exiles and The Surge— are still available to download until May 7
Below are the two new offerings for May:
- Overcooked
- What Remains of Edith Finch
These are two very similar yet starkly different offerings for the month, so let’s dive right in!
Overcooked is a multiplayer sim by Ghost Town Games that originally released in 2016. If you want a fun, frenzied, chaotic multiplayer online game for 1-4 players, this should be your choice for the month of May.
It’s a silly concept: players are chefs in a kitchen trying to fill as many orders as possible within a certain time limit. The kitchen layout changes by the level and yes, there’s a final boss level, too.
Most of the reviews have been relatively positive for Overcooked (aside from some complaints about the Nintendo Switch version), and it’s a fun game to lose yourself in for a couple of hours at a time.
What Remains of Edith Finch came out in 2018 and is straight-up a first-person exploration game. The premise? You are Edith Finch, the last of her family’s line, and you’re returning to the family home after your mother’s death. You wander through the house and explore the family’s past, interacting with memorials to deceased members and trying to piece some mysteries together.
It sounds a little like Gone Home, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s a relaxed, short game that you can easily finish in a weekend.
Both of these offerings for PlayStation Plus members are incredibly relaxed games, especially after the last few months’ worth of offerings. It’s a nice change of pace for sure, but definitely a different feel. It’s a nice way to ease into the summer months.
Both Overcooked and What Remains of Edith Finch will be free to download for PlayStation Plus members on May 7.
