Violet Chachki might be a bit of a controversial choice, because she represents both new and old styles of drag, but she has still solidified her title as a RuPaul’s Drag Race legend since her time on the show.

Violet was only 23 years old when she appeared on season 7 of Drag Race. She was known for her flawless aesthetic and burlesque roots. She also wasn’t very popular with the other contestants because of her confidence and for appearing snobbish. But that didn’t stop her from getting praise from the judges. She struggled with acting and comedy, but her runways were always a win. She won three main challenges on her season and never landed in the bottom, and was eventually crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar, beating out Ginger Minj and Pearl.

The burlesque performer stuck to her roots and became known for her live shows, where she’d perform aerial silk and hoop numbers. She eventually joined Dita Von Teese’s The Art of Teese and has frequently worked with the burlesque superstar. She also became the first drag queen in a major lingerie campaign for Bettie Page Lingerie and walked for Moschino during Milan Fashion Week in 2018.

Violet may not be a conventional queen putting out music (which she actually has done) and death dropping on stages in nightclubs, but she’s found her own niche and made a name for herself in the world of fashion and burlesque.
