BenDeLaCreme may be “terminally delightful,” but she also holds the distinction of being the only queen on All Stars to ever eliminate themselves on the runway. She could’ve been an All Star, but opted to quit while she was ahead!

We were first introduced to DeLa on season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She came out of the gate running, winning the first main challenge of the season, as well as Snatch Game (for her hilarious performance as Dame Maggie Smith) and several other mini and main challenges. The judges often raved about her and she was a clear front-runner for the crown. She found herself in the bottom two twice, both times against Darienne Lake. The first time was a double shantay (a non-elimination), but the second time she was sent home, which was seen as a huge upset to fans.

DeLa eventually won Miss Congeniality on her season, and then came back to fight for the crown one more time on All Stars 3. She had said before that she wasn’t interested in competing again, but was apparently swayed to come back. She was doing incredibly well and won five main challenges and three Lip Syncs For Your Legacy. On episode 6, however, her time in the competition was cut short… by herself.

She won the lip sync against Bebe, and when she pulled out her lipstick, she had written her own name on it in liquid paper. She felt like she didn’t need to win to prove herself, though she was clearly on the path to the crown.

Since appearing on the show, she has performed in several touring one-woman shows, including Terminally Delightful, Cosmos, and Inferno A-Go-Go. She also runs her own theatrical production company. See, who needs a crown?
