Harry Potter, what is he good for? Absolutely nothing. Unless you tell him what to do

Don’t get me wrong, I love Harry Potter, but when you look at his success and what’s he’s really good at, the results that you get are very limited because he had bigger fish to fry.

Sure, Harry Potter is the kind of character that we love but that doesn’t mean he’s devoid of faults. If anything, there’s a lot wrong with him. From his inability to rely on others to his need to always try and live up to the ‘legacy’ of his parents, Harry has quite the weight on his shoulder.

So that doesn’t necessarily make him a great hero. If anything, Harry relies totally on others to tell him what to do. Sure, he is a man with his own mind and free-will, but many of the aspects of his character that make him our ‘hero’ were not his choices.

Maybe it is because of this prophecy that Harry is even involved. Without it, maybe he would have just been another kid at Hogwarts who didn’t want to fight in this war. Or maybe he’d always step up to the plate and prepare himself for battle because that’s who he is. The problem is that we’ll never get to know that because Voldemort took it into his own hands to force Harry’s involvement in the war.

Harry Potter may not be the best hero but he is the one we were given and one thing we can’t fault Harry on is his willingness to step up and do what is right. He could have said no but he didn’t.

Harry Potter got thrown into this life and it doesn’t exactly know how to function in it. Is he a great character? Not really. But we love him.
