Harry Potter and Albus Potter: How Harry looks at his own son and their relationship

facebooktwitterreddit

It defense of Harry Potter, he doesn’t know what it is like to have a father. So how does that relate to his relationship with his own children, specifically Albus Potter?

Albus Potter doesn’t really like the fact that his father is Harry Potter. It isn’t that he hates him, just that he hates what it means for him as he goes to school. He has a weight of what his father did on his shoulder and he has to try and succeed past it in his own way.

So how does Harry Potter deal with that? By making it all about him and constantly making the situation worse. As he points out though, he doesn’t know how to deal with Albus because Albus isn’t like him. I’d argue that Albus is the most like Harry though and that’s why they bicker the way they do.

They’re both dramatic and overzealous and neither wants to let people down. Which means they’re bogged down by their own minds and don’t know how to escape it. Maybe it is because every man in Harry’s life was seemingly using him for something else but Harry had to figure out how to be a father all on his own and watching him navigate that is extremely interesting.

Can he manage to keep his kids happy while taking care of himself and his career? Probably not but at least it shows that Harry is trying to be the best father he can be.
