This week’s episode of Game of Thrones will be comprised of a 90-minute battle sequence, and it’s sure to be both action-packed and devastating.

The hype surrounding the final season of Game of Thrones is surpassed only by the excitement for this week’s episode of the show, which will be comprised of the 90-minute Battle of Winterfell. The showrunners and cast have been talking about this battle sequence since they began releasing details about the series’ eighth season, and if they’re to be believed, it’s going to be a wild episode.

During “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” the Night King’s forces arrived at Winterfell—and the army of the dead is no joke. The Night King’s forces are too huge for the army at Winterfell to defeat in battle, meaning that Jon and Daenerys will need to take the Night King out in order to prevent the dead from winning.

The characters intend to use Bran to lure him to the Godswood, but plenty of fans have been wondering whether the Night King will bypass Winterfell entirely and head straight to King’s Landing. He certainly seems to be missing from the preview footage for tonight’s episode.

Watch the promo teaser here:

Even if the Night King is absent from the battle, the teaser footage promises to place plenty of our favorite characters in immediate danger. Brienne and Jaime appear to be on the front lines of the battle, and even Jon and Arya look panicked by the middle of the promo. Those on the battlefield are certainly going to have their work cut out for them, especially since, as Jon points out, their enemy “doesn’t feel” and “doesn’t die.”

There are also the Crypts of Winterfell to consider. Fans have been told numerous times already that the women and children who stay down there will be in the safest place there is—but that repetitive emphasis on how safe the crypts are may actually suggest the opposite. Fans are speculating that the crypts might actually be the most dangerous location to be… and if that’s the case, a lot of lives are going to be lost down there.

In fact, the body count for this episode will probably be massive regardless of what happens in the crypts. The fact that last week’s episode didn’t feature a single death doesn’t exactly bode well for the Battle of Winterfell…so fans should probably keep their tissues on hand.
