Dragons and fire are not infallible

It takes Jon and Daenerys some time to truly join the battle, but when they do, the tide seems to briefly turn. Drogon and Rhaegal know what they’re about. However, blizzard-like conditions lower their effectiveness, because their riders can’t see. With the dragons overwhelmed, those on the ground beat it back to the castle in a hasty retreat, save for many of the Unsullied.

That retreat doesn’t last long, though, as some of the dead sacrifice themselves in order to make a path through the burning trench for their compatriots. Then it becomes a game of castle defense, with Jaime, Gendry, Brienne, and more taking the dead down one by one.

But eventually, things start to get overrun. Those in the crypts can hear screams that suddenly go silent.
