This is the death we’re most upset about from the Battle of Winterfell

We lost quite a few beloved characters during the Battle of Winterfell, but the death of one little warrior definitely hit us the hardest.

Well, it’s official. The Battle of Winterfell has come to an end, and so has another great house of Westeros.

The last living members of House Mormont perished on the battlefield this evening, leaving Bear Island without anyone to govern it.

Of all the deaths during “The Long Night,” though, little Lyanna Mormont’s definitely hit us the hardest. She became a fan favorite after one scene, immediately gaining respect for how tough and to the point she was. She was the youngest of the Northern leaders, but she was one of the strongest. Her loved ones fell to Robb’s cause, and she kept fighting for her people anyway. She was even the first to hail Jon as “King in the North.”

And Lyanna fought for the North until the end. Even when it seemed that they couldn’t win against the army of the dead, Lyanna charged right into the enemy’s ranks. She took on an undead giant, and she took him down with her—a fitting death for someone with a presence as large as hers. We’re sad to see her go, but at least the series did her justice as she did.

It’ll be interesting to see what comes next, now that Bear Island has no leader and the North is in shambles. Lyanna would have been a good person to have around when it came time to rebuild, but we’ll have to hope someone equally as badass will rise to the occasion. In the meantime, we’ll be in mourning…
