Music in the wizarding world: How do the kids learn about new music at Hogwarts?

facebooktwitterreddit

We’ve talked about Hogwarts being removed from the pop culture world but how do the students end up learning about new music and things while they are at school?

Hogwarts is a remote place that may not be the best if you want to stay on top of what’s happening in the world. They don’t have Wi-Fi, they don’t have movies, they just have wax candles and books. Which, sure, that’s fun, but also what do the students at Hogwarts do for music?

Is there a record player there? Radios? What exactly do they have at school to keep them entertained? Maybe it is because I’m the kind of person that needs music to focus so if you’re the same way, does that mean that we’d just be kind of at a loss if we went to school there?

A great majority of people like to watch TV or movies so it just seems like there should be an adjustment to Hogwarts now that wasn’t there when the series first came out. Maybe that’s because music and movies weren’t as easily available as they are now as they were in the 90s but that means it’d be different now, right?

Someone at Hogwarts has to have a Spotify account that just keeps everyone up to date on what is happening in the world of music. And maybe someone else has a Netflix account so they all run to that person’s room to catch up on all their shows.

Do you think music is a wonderful addition to the series or do you think they need more songs? Do the kids at Hogwarts know about popular songs? Hopefully, they’re listening to “Old Town Road” somewhere in school!
