The origin to the Upside Down will be revealed

We don’t know why the Upside Down exists. Right now, we just know that the boys think it has something to do with the Dungeons & Dragons games. So, could we be finding out why it exists, and why it seems to be attached to just Hawkins, Indiana?

That’s probably the most interesting thing about the Upside Down. Of all the places in the world, Hawkins is seemingly the only place where there is any kind of disturbance. Or, at least, the only one where the city is fighting back against it.

The theory, though, goes back to Russia. Which makes sense since there is Russian in the teaser. Maybe the connection was an experiment during the Cold War that backfired, creating the Upside Down and ushering in the monsters that haunt Hawkins, Indiana.

With the creation of the Upside Down theory also comes the idea there will be an evil version of Eleven that will take on our hero. Described as the “evil Soviet version of Eleven,” the character could come face to face with our Eleven, fighting against each other when Eleven and the kids of Hawkins try to figure out how to stop the Upside Down.

Could it just be a Russian experiment or something even more supernatural? Do the citizens of Hawkins even stand a chance against it?
