Will Byers was targeted by the Upside Down

Will Byers seems to have bad luck when it comes to the Demogorgon and the Upside Down. There is an idea, though, that he was targeted from the beginning. We still don’t know why it was Will or why he is one of the few to survive his time in the Upside Down but he’s still connected to it and maybe that has something to do with Eleven.

His connection seems to be just because of how he survived for so long in this alternate version of Hawkins but, with season 2, Will was taken over by the Mind Flayer and had an even deeper connection to the unknown aspects of Hawkins. Could the Demogorgon could have known that Will would be the Upside Down’s connection to Hawkins and tracked him?

The Demogorgon and creatures of the Upside Down seem to have a plan and know what they want out of Hawkins. Thinking that the Demogorgon stalked Will and attacked him when it was easiest for him isn’t that out there.

It would give a reason to Will being chosen. Right now, it just seems as if he was the easy choice, but if the Demogorgon stalked him from Mike’s house until he eventually got home, it shows that Will just wasn’t the unlucky kid the Upside Down chose but was a purposeful choice by the Demogorgon.
