Harry Potter and Jon Snow: How these two characters are not that different

With Game of Thrones coming to a close, we can examine both Harry Potter and Jon Snow as reluctant heroes and what they mean as characters to their respective series.

Harry Potter didn’t choose this life of heroism, it was thrust upon him. And when you stop and think about Jon Snow, it is kind of the same deal. On Game of Thrones, he didn’t choose to be a hero to all of Westeros, it just came about when he went to the wall.

Now, they’re both the heroes the wizarding world and Westeros need. Standing strong and doing whatever it takes to defeat their respective foes. Which brings up the question of whether or not these two heroes can even be considered as such. Just because they’re reluctant.

Both Jon and Harry are doing what they have to to both save their homes and themselves. Sure, they’ll willingly sacrifice themselves for the greater good but does that just make them men of honor or heroes?

Harry James Potter was thrown into this life without any kind of support, Jon Snow was born in a lie, not knowing his true parentage. Maybe they’re more alike than we’d like to admit but both are wonderful examples of doing what you have to in order to be the hero that everyone needs.

Harry and Jon may have been heroes that didn’t expect to be such but we couldn’t ask for better men leading the charge in our favorite series.

Harry Potter and Jon Snow both became heroes but they may not have thought their lives would have panned out that way. Luckily though, they stepped up and took control of their situation and that’s why we like them so!
