Here’s the thing about Johnny Depp: Is it even worth it at this point?

I get it, people like continuity, but is it even worth it to have Johnny Depp in the Harry Potter series with everything that has been going on since his casting?

Johnny Depp is a problematic figure for a lot of reasons. One of which being the allegations against him by ex-wife, Amber Heard. While we don’t know the specifics of the situation, one thing we do know is that it has affected Harry Potter fans differently.

Whether you believe them or not is up to you but one thing is very clear: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald may have suffered because of how fans reacted to the news. There were many who wouldn’t go to see it because of Depp’s involvement and others who hated his portrayal of the character, now that we’ve seen the film.

So, does that mean they should continue to keep Depp in the film franchise? Will the next Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie include him? Honestly, would it even be worth it at this point? There comes a time when keeping someone in a film just because they were already cast can cost too much and that may be the case with Depp.

Potter fans are particular and for good reason. We have the right to dislike Depp’s casting and subsequent continuation of the character throughout everything so maybe, when it comes time to working on the third film, they can revisit his involvement in the project and focus their energy on connecting it to the world we already know from the Harry Potter series.
