Rumor: The Rise of Skywalker will see another Star Wars legend return
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has the name of one famous family in its title, but another classic character will reportedly appear in the film.

As The Rise of Skywalker opens, only one member of the trio at the heart of the original Star Wars trilogy lives: Leia Organa, thanks to archival footage from The Force Awakens. But at the same time, as Luke Skywalker’s voice reminds us in the trailer: “No one’s ever really gone.”
According to a report from Making Star Wars, that might very well extend to the third member of the trio, as Harrison Ford reportedly did shoot for The Rise of Skywalker.
Yes, we’re talking about Han Solo.
Per that MSW report, it seems that Luke, now one with the Force, calls the image of Han up for Kylo Ren. Of course, MSW notes that this is only being pieced together.
Would this make sense as part of the film? Well, yes. For all that Han was always the least comfortable with the Force, he also had a complex relationship with his son. Kylo Ren can’t seem to let go of it, either, considering that he killed his other father figures, directly and indirectly, in The Last Jedi. (We’re talking, of course, of Snoke and Luke.)
Here’s the next question that fans should ask: Does Luke do the same for Rey?
She also had an important relationship with Han, short-lived though it was, but she might not need the same sort of encouragement from him as she can get from the still-living Leia as well as Luke’s presumed Force ghost.
Right now, Rey’s journey is to become the kind of Force user who can use those thousand generations of Jedi and their knowledge to bring balance and light back to the galaxy, however that might occur, and that’s not Han’s forte. Additionally, from MSW’s report, this isn’t necessarily Han’s actual spirit anyway, so it probably couldn’t happen even if we wanted it to.
After The Last Jedi finally gave us some of Luke and Kylo’s relationship, this report makes it sound as though The Rise of Skywalker will capitalize on that.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on Dec. 20.
