Emma Thompson will make her debut as a Saturday Night Live host. Get all the details for the May episode.
Saturday Night Live hosting is offered to the biggest and the brightest stars. It’s odd to say that Emma Thompson hasn’t hosted the series ever, but that is about to change. The former Harry Potter star is heading to the late, late Saturday night comedy series.
Thompson, who we know as Professor Sybill Trelawney from the wizarding franchise, will make her debut during the penultimate episode of the season. Airing May 11, 2019, she’ll show off her comedic skills through the various skits that the show is known well for doing.
More from Harry Potter

- Create a magical event worthy of Hogwarts with this new Harry Potter-themed party planning book
- Can Fantastic Beasts hold up to the Harry Potter franchise?
- Show off your Wizard’s Chess skills with this Harry Potter set that’s now over half off
- Harry Potter continues to inspire generations – including Jack Harlow
Most skits on Saturday Night Live are of a topical nature. When actors host, they often do a skit or two from something they’re well-known for. Will there by a Harry Potter sketch? It may have been too long since Trelawney graced our screens, especially since Thompson will be promoting her upcoming Amazon Studios movie, Late Night, which stars and was created by Mindy Kaling.

If you haven’t heard, Thompson plays talk show host Katherine in Late Night. When she’s at the risk of losing her job, she turns to her team of all-male and all-white writers. However, there’s a saving grace in the form of new writer, Molly (Kaling). The only female and person of color in the writer’s room, Molly is the polar opposite to Katherine but that could be just what the talk show needs.

While she’s promoting her movie on Saturday Night Live, the live music act will be promoting their upcoming Amazon series and celebrating the fact that they’ve got back together. It’s the Jonas Brothers taking to the musical stage, breaking up the skits with a variety of songs. We’ll likely get one oldie and one new song at the very least.
