While Pottermore contains content that adds further layers to Rowling’s world, it sometimes releases information that’s bound to raise a few eyebrows.

Since its inception, Pottermore has been a place for Harry Potter fans to further immerse themselves in the magical world that J.K. Rowling created. The site contains plenty of information about the Wizarding World, some of it even written by Rowling herself. And of course, it also allows fans to take quizzes in order to sort themselves into a Hogwarts house and discover what their patronus would be.

But while Pottermore contains a wealth of fascinating content that adds even more layers to the Wizarding World, it sometimes releases information about Rowling’s world that’s sure to raise a few eyebrows. A recent example of this occurred when Pottermore tweeted about the history of Wizarding World bathroom topics—a bizarre enough topic without taking into account that the article claimed wizards used to just go wherever they pleased. This might seem like a weird but small addition to Rowling’s Wizarding World, but the statement had the online community in an uproar. Reactions ranged from amusement to astonishment, and many fans lamented Rowling’s tendency to drop random Harry Potter facts so long after the series has ended, suggesting that these sorts of comments come of as attention-grabbing.
