14. Pete Anderson

Who is he: Husband of Jessie, Pete Anderson is a minor Walking Dead villain who physically abused his wife and kids in Alexandria. Though Pete is primarily an antagonist for Rick, he causes a lot of conflict between the former residents of Alexandria and Rick’s group. After all, Rick is used to dealing with abusers in a very Rick fashion, and the former leader of Alexandria (Deanna) didn’t necessarily agree with his proposed tactics. Though Pete is a short-lived villain, he was a part of the kindling that inspired Alexandria to change its ways and turn to Rick for advice.

Worst act of villainy: Boiling the tension between Rick’s group, who were still adjusting to life in Alexandria, and the people of Alexandria, Pete’s biggest villainous moment was when he killed Reg. Sure, it was unintentional, but he still killed him, and it sparked a necessary revision of Alexandria’s code on punishment.

Weakness: His own vendetta against Rick led to him accidentally murdering Reg. Essentially, it was his own ego that led to his path as a villain, and the downfall of his family (especially his equally morally convoluted son).

Redeeming qualities: Since he was the main medical professional at Alexandria, his demise led to more screen time for Denise. While she didn’t have as much experience as a doctor, like Pete, she was still a more agreeable character who didn’t abuse her girlfriend and actively care about and for the community of Alexandria.

First appearance: “Remember” (season 5, episode 12)

Last appearance: “First Time Again” (season 6, episode 1)

Death: After Pete killed Reg, Deanna allowed Rick to kill Pete as punishment (and for obvious proactive safety measures).
