What if Harry Potter never went to Hogwarts at all?
We know that he went because the other option was to stay with the Dursleys but what if Harry Potter never went to Hogwarts at all? What if he decided not to?
Harry Potter went to Hogwarts and it is how he meant his family. He got to befriend Hermione and Ron and, eventually, he married Ginny Weasley because of his time there. But what if he never went to Hogwarts in the first place?
Not that he didn’t know about it or because the Dursleys succeeded in hiding his letters but rather that he decided against it? Harry doesn’t know about his life, or didn’t at that time, and what if he stayed in the muggle world to escape what he didn’t know?
There is so much about Harry’s life that ended up being terrible because of what happened when he went to Hogwarts but it still is better than the life he had with the Dursleys. If he chose to stay, that would be entirely on him because, as much as he suffered, he still found a family of people who love him and supported him.
He got to learn about his family and see the people who knew his mother and father in a productive way and he escaped the terrible people he had lived with. So, it’s better that he went to Hogwarts and if he chose not to go, hopefully, he would escape the Dursleys and get to find a better life than what they were providing him.
