Where will the next Star Wars Celebration be held?

Done all too soon, Star Wars Celebration Chicago has come to an end, but there’s a lot to remember and a preview of the future.

Star Wars Celebration Chicago is now over. That’s a sad thing to type, but that didn’t stop the energy at the Celebration Stage, where this writer was lucky enough to witness the closing ceremony of the convention. Here’s what went down.

Each stage got its own special moment. The hosts of the The Star Wars Show, Andi Gutierrez and Anthony Carboni, became honorary members of the 501st Legion over on the live stage on the show floor. On the Galaxy Stage, panels like the Star Wars Let’s Play as well as The Music of The Phantom Menace were briefly recapped. We got to rewatch the trailer for the next season of The Clone Wars.

In case you haven’t seen the panel:

Everyone in the arena also got to rewatch the trailer for The Rise of Skywalker. Host Warwick Davis was not kidding when he said it was much more impressive on that huge screen. Fans cheered for the return of Lando, Rey’s flip over the TIE Silencer, and Leia’s appearance.

In the sizzle reel, we saw everything from lightsaber battles in Millennium Park to recaps of the major panels, including The Mandalorian, Episode IX, Jedi: Fallen Order, Sisters of the Force, and Galaxy’s Edge. But that reel was also about the fans — from the littlest ones all the way up to those who grew up with the original trilogy. “You give Star Wars Celebration its energy,” Davis told us. “I sincerely thank each and every one of you.”

But at the end came the surprise.

With a very large copy of the card that held the Death Star plans, the hosts passed it around the arena in a recreation of Rogue One, a pool noodle version of Darth Vader’s lightsaber far behind.

But there was a success, and we now know…

The next Star Wars Celebration will officially be held in Anaheim, California, next year in 2020!
