Birds of Prey: Renee Montoya and Harley Quinn face off in new photos

There are finally some new Birds of Prey set photos of Renee Montoya, and we have some questions and a couple of theories.

It’s clear that we’re hyped about Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Maybe we’re a little too eager about the film, but you can blame us because the BoP behind the scenes set photos are sustaining our hype. Some of the latest Birds of Prey set photos include one Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), who’s in the middle of a sting; and we have some theories about what might be happening off-frame.

Thanks to Twitter user @bopupdates, we have even more BoP updates. (Obviously, the user knows their brand, and we’re glad.) Based on the photos, it’s clear that Renee Montoya and Harley Quinn don’t have the most friendly meet-and-greet in the movie.

According to Screen Rant, Renee  Montoya appears to be trying to apprehend Harley in the photos. Although Harley Quinn varies from villain to anti-hero to hero, given the specific mission and moment, Harley isn’t a member of the Bird of Prey team in the comics or the film.

We have conflicting theories about how the confrontation between Renee and Harley might pan out. Harley could get away. After all, she is cunning. Otherwise, Renee might be able to apprehend her during this altercation. Montoya is a seasoned and non-corrupt officer of the GCPD, so she can easily outmatch Harley’s fight sequences and her tricks.

Since an earlier batch of BoP set photos (and video) gave us a  look at Cassandra Cain apparently getting arrested, Harley and Cass might actually meet at the GCPD holding cells. Given the chaotic environment of Gotham City and Harley’s innate chaotic personality, a jail cell break-out scene, featuring Harley and Cass, might shortly follow the outcome of this Renee vs. Harley scene.

Nonetheless, we still have a few questions regarding these new Birds of Prey set photos:

• When will this scene take place in the film?
• Will we see some artfully choreographed fights scenes in this Renee vs. Harley standoff?
• Could we see some BTS set photos of Black Mask shortly after these leaks?
• And can we just pre-order tickets already?

Obviously, we have more questions, but we’re focusing on some of the more important ones for now. Regardless, we’re glad to see some clear photos of Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya onset of the BoP film. We can already suspect that Renee will be a scene-stealer in the movie.
