What are we going to do about all the Harry Potter characters the movies left out?
From Winky to Peeves and so on and so on, we tend to leave some of the characters from the Harry Potter series out of the movies. But how are we going to teach people about them?
Winky was important, Peeves helped them find a diadem, and so many other characters in the Harry Potter books were pushed aside for more popular characters in the movies. But are they still important? The short answer is yes, they are still important.
The problem is that there are people who don’t know these characters exist. If someone is just a fan of the books, they’re missing an entire section about Winky, the house elf that became Dobby’s partner at Hogwarts and someone we all felt for.
There was no Peeves tormenting the students but eventually helping Harry Potter find Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem so that he could destroy it. And these are just two big examples. There are countless other characters that were pushed aside because they couldn’t fit into the movies.
Personally, I will always love Romilda Vane and would have loved nothing more than to play her. She was still in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince but not nearly as much as she is in the books. That’s the problem with book to film adaptations. Sometimes, we just get lost in the story and leave out little characters, some of which are favorites to some fans.
Someday, though. Someday Peeves will get his moment and then we’ll all be in for a disaster.
