New Heroes

Black Panther (T’Challa)

Status: Snapped

T’Challa noticed that General Okoye was hurt on the ground after the battle in Wakanda. He goes to her, telling her that where she was was “no place to die.” As he helps her up from the ground, he turns to ash and disappears in front of her.

Doctor Strange (Stephen Strange)

Status: Snapped

Strange sees 14,000,605 different possible outcomes for this war between them and Thanos and in all of those, they only won once.  Before he disappears, Strange tells Tony that “there was no other way,” in reference to him surrendering the Time Stone. Fans speculated that Strange was following the path of the one outcome where the Avengers win the battle by helping Thanos complete the Infinity Gauntlet — hence, him saying they were in the “endgame” now.

Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

Status: Snapped

Probably one of the most heartbreaking moments was when Peter disappeared. Tom Holland improvised his lines when he tells Tony that he doesn’t want to go before finally saying “I’m sorry,” and becomes the last hero to turn to ash.

Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff)

Status: Snapped

Wanda was put in a difficult position when she was forced to destroy the Mind Stone embedded in Vision’s forehead. She’d hoped to find an alternative way that would save his life, but ultimately settled on honoring his wish for her to be the one to destroy it. While she did successfully destroy the stone, Thanos used the Time Stone to go back in time and take the restored stone. Wanda kneels over Vision’s body and disappears without a word.

Vision

Status: Dead

Vision, an android created by Ultron and Helen Cho, played a big part in the third Avengers movie. After he had the Mind Stone taken from him, he was killed by Thanos with no hope of coming back.

Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)

Status: Alive

Although she wasn’t in the movie, we get a brief glimpse of Captain Marvel in Endgame the mid-credits scene of Captain Marvel. She received the distress signal from Nick Fury which led her to the Avengers’ compound. She encounters Natasha, Rhodey, Steve and Bruce and demands to know where Fury is.

Ant-Man (Scott Lang)

Status: Alive

Scott also was not in Infinity War, but we know that he will be in Endgame thanks to the trailers. He, like Clint, was under house arrest to protect his family from danger. However, at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp, he gets trapped in the Quantum Realm when The Wasp, Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne all disappear due to the snap. How he returns to the real world is a mystery.

Winter Soldier (James “Bucky” Barnes)

Status: Snapped

Bucky was the first of the heroes to disappear. He tugged at our heartstrings when he called out for Steve before turning to ash. Steve, looking crestfallen, kneels on the ground where Bucky disappeared.

Falcon (Sam Wilson)

Status: Snapped

Sam’s disappearance also tugged at our hearts. He was hurt on the ground and was alone when he turned to dust. Rhodey called out to him but didn’t find him in time.

War Machine (James “Rhodey” Rhodes)

Status: Alive

Rhodey didn’t know what was happening to all of the heroes that were disappearing. He asked Steve what was going on, to which he replies, “Oh god,” after the reality of Thanos’ snap hit him.
