Mera: Tidebreaker – Danielle Paige

DC’s new young adult publishing line, DC Ink, launches this April with its first title Mera: Tidebreaker.

Meant to capitalize on the massive success of Aquaman and the fact that fans everywhere want to know more about the women in these stories, each of these graphic novels will be penned by some well known YA authors. First up is Danielle Paige, known for her books Dorothy Must Die and Stealing Snow.

In this story, Mera is a teenager, and the young queen-to-be is forced to choose between her destiny and her growing feelings for Arthur Curry.

"Princess Mera is teenage royalty and heir to the throne of Xebel, a penal colony ruled by the other no-so-lost land under the sea, Atlantis. Her father, his court and the entire kingdom are expecting her to marry and introduce a new king. But Mera is destined to wear a different crown…."

Mera: Tidebreaker will be released on April 2.

Defy Me – Tahereh Mafi

The fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, Defy Me is maybe not the place to jump in if you’re completely unfamiliar with Tahereh Mafi’s work.

But for the many fans who’ve been waiting for her story to continue, this is pretty much Christmas. Will Juliette’s broken heart make her more susceptible to the darkness that’s been growing within her?

"Juliette’s short tenure as the supreme commander of North America has been an utter disaster. When the children of the other world leaders show up on her doorstep, she wants nothing more than to turn to Warner for support and guidance. But he shatters her heart when he reveals that he’s been keeping secrets about her family and her identity from her—secrets that change everything. Juliette is devastated, and the darkness that’s always dwelled within her threatens to consume her. An explosive encounter with unexpected visitors might be enough to push her over the edge."

Defy Me will be released on April 2.
