Jafar — Aladdin

Let us start by saying Princess Jasmine is the clear MVP of Aladdin. If her everything were not enough (it is), her ability to look Jafar in the eye, flirt with him and twirl his goatee in order to distract him from ending the world is…well, we not sure we could do it.

Jafar is a terrible person. He is also the Grand Vizier of Agrabah, the Sultan’s most trusted advisor, and the owner of the most melodramatic job title in this list. To add further drama, he is also a sorcerer with a staff that can hypnotize people into doing what he wants them to.

Not content with this excessive amount of power, he seeks the magic of another: the Genie. To reach him, Jafar takes the first steps of many, which include having our hero Aladdin arrested, pretending he is dead to torture Jasmine as an extra bit of villainous fun, before donning a costume to persuade the “diamond in the rough” to retrieve the genie’s lamp from the Cave of Wonders for him.

Seriously, who has the time?

Whilst his not-exactly-foolproof plan initially fails, Jafar does eventually end up being the Genie’s master, and his first two wishes (of the standard three) are just as outlandish as you’d expect.

He wishes to become Sultan and the world’s most powerful sorcerer, two things that he already seems to be, at least in all but name. It seems what he really wishes for is positive reinforcement.

Yet despite being officially named world’s best Sultan, he still craves more and allows Aladdin to injure his pride by suggesting the Genie is more powerful than him. Jafar can’t take this very obvious, very pointed jibe, and lets it get the better of him, until he too is sucked into a lamp for all eternity.

Deserved.
