Mandy Harvey

Mandy Harvey made America’s Got Talent history as the first deaf singer to perform on the stage. Harvey performed an original song she wrote called “Try” – a tribute to herself and how she never wants to give up despite being deaf.

Needing to discover new ways to continue with her singing, she found that feeling the vibrations from the rhythm and beats helped her achieve a new ability to perceive music. Simon Cowell hit the golden buzzer, sending her to the live show round. By the time the final weeks came by, Harvey kept on impressing everyone with her talent. She came in fourth place on season 12 of the show.

After appearing on the show, Harvey’s life has changed for the better. She began touring all over the United States, performing original songs. In addition to this, she’s also become a motivational speaker, going to different states to talk about how she found her new voice.

In 2017, she co-wrote a memoir with author Mark Atteberry called Sensing the Rhythm: Finding My Voice in a World Without Sound, re-telling her story and how she got through the hard times of losing her hearing at age 18. Harvey continues to inspire and motivate others who may find themselves in a similar situation.
