What’s new in April for Xbox Live Gold members?

Xbox announced its free offerings for the month of April for its Live Gold members. We’ve got a breakdown of the games for you.

Xbox announced its April offerings for their Xbox Live Gold members, and you’ll have four new adventures to keep you busy through the month of April and beyond.

Below is the list of offerings and the dates they’re available to play:

  • The Technomancer (April 1 to April 30 on Xbox One)
  • Outcast: Second Contact (April 16 to May 15th on Xbox One)
  • Star Wars: Battlefront II (April 1 to April 15 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One)
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (April 16 to April 30 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

This feels like a very weird mix of offerings for Xbox this month, especially with so many other brand new titles having come out recently that most people probably already blew their video game budget on. (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Devil May Cry 5 are just two options.)

The Technomancer came out in 2016 and was fairly negatively reviewed across the board. Terrible character animation and sub-par voice acting alongside combat that wasn’t fully fleshed out makes for not a great gameplay experience. However, most of the background and setting visuals made up for some of the clunkiness.

Outcast: Second Contact is the remake of the original on Windows 99 and another cult-classic offering. If you’ve never played and want a bit of a flashback to your youth, give this one a download.

It’s an open-world concept game set on the planet Adelpha. It’s nothing groundbreaking– especially with how many open world games we’ve had in the last 20 years — but it’s still a fun adventure.

Star Wars: Battlefront II is here to confuse you, because it’s not the 2017 Battlefront offering, but the 2005 one. It’s a solid Star Wars game for sure, not straying too much from the original Battlefront. And really, the combat in this game is so much fun. Trying to take down the giant capital ships takes tact, patience, and coordination and you can easily get lost in the game.

Last up is Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. This is your third-person shooter game for this month’s offerings. You have 72 hours to defeat the enemy in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas. And, as a bonus, some of the action takes place inside a bull-fighter arena.

Always keep in mind, some of March’s offerings are still available for download until March 31st, including Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and Metal Gear Rising: RevengeancePlants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare can be downloaded until April 15.
