Avengers: Endgame: Everything you missed in the Chinese poster

Though it keeps the color scheme we’ve come to expect from marketing, the Chinese poster for Avengers: Endgame adds some new details.

Avengers: Endgame is not done with building publicity this week. After the domestic release of a massive set of character posters, a new international poster has started to make the rounds on the internet, coming from the Chinese publicity campaign from the film.

Check it out below:

First off, loosely translating, the subtitle of the movie is “War’s End,” which both evokes the spirit of Infinity War while also tying into the English title of Endgame. Note also that it does specify that this is the fourth Avengers movie. Additionally, China gets to see the film two days early, with a date of April 24 listed as opposed to April 26 for the States.

However, let’s get into the visuals. Overall, this is a much softer color palette than that of the American Endgame poster. It focuses more on the blues and purples, casting even Okoye and Captain Marvel’s golden elements in a new light.

Additionally, Thanos is much more present in this poster. Again, this calls back to the Infinity War posters just as much as the subtitle. However, Thor also brings the thunder in this poster. We’re not saying that his Stormbreaker axe will play a role in helping take down Thanos, but Thor does get closer than pretty much anyone else on their own in Infinity War.

Notably, pretty much everyone is wielding their weapons or powers in this poster, including Valkyrie, who is making an appearance after getting a solo poster of her own. The only characters who aren’t clearly wielding something are Iron Man (though he is still wearing his suit), Nebula, Ant-Man (same as Iron Man) and Bruce Banner. Bruce is rather understandable, considering that his power is turning into the Hulk.

Finally, as many have noticed, the dead are below in shadow. In order, starting from the left, they appear to be Shuri, Vision, Bucky Barnes, Black Panther, Mantis, Star-Lord, Scarlet Witch, Nick Fury, Gamora, Spider-Man, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Drax, and Groot. Notably, Wasp is missing. However, this is additional official confirmation that the MCU is treating Shuri as dead after the events of Infinity War.
