Alfred Enoch to star in a new play created by actor Idris Elba

Alfred Enoch will be starring in a new play at the Manchester International Festival called Tree. A play created by the well-known actor Idris Elba.

Potterheads know Alfred Enoch for his time in Harry Potter as Dean Thomas. Since his time in the Wizarding World franchise, he has gone on to star in How To Get Away With Murder and Troy: Fall of a City. He has also appeared on stage as well, one of his most notable stage performances was in 2018 called Red, a two-man one-act play.

Alfred Enoch is now heading back to the stage in the form of the production Tree. A production which has been created by actor Idris Elba, who is well known for Luther and Thor. Elba created this play after being inspired by his role in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He created it alongside Young Vic Theatre artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah.

Alfred Enoch will play the role of Kaleo, who is a young man from London who is about to visit his parents’ home of South Africa for the very first time. Kaleo sets off to South Africa after a family tragedy forces him to do so, and it will be a journey where he must come face to face with history and try and right the wrongs of the past, while also facing the present.

Performances of Tree are going to take place between June 29 and July 13 at the Upper Campfield Market Hall in Manchester. Tickets are currently on sale at £35, you can get some by visiting the official Manchester International Festival website here.

If you miss out on the play during the festival you will be pleased to hear you will have another opportunity to see it. Tree is moving to the Young Vic in London and will be there from July 29 to August 24.
