The childhood fan-favorite Artemis Fowl is making its debut on the big screen on August 9th, 2019. Disney is behind this one, and it’s been talking about making this film since 2016. We know it’s going to be a hit! Get ready, Disney-lovers!

The series was written by Eoin Colfer and follows the story of a 12-year-old prodigy who is an absolute criminal mastermind. With the help of his bodyguard, Butler, he kidnaps a fairy, who works as a police captain, for ransom.

Though this may sound cruel and unforgiving, he does it in order to put together funds to search for his missing father and recover his family’s wealth. So, really, we kind of feel for Artemis! Young Ferdia Shaw stars as the lovable devil Artemis Fowl and audiences are guaranteed to fall in love with his charm. Moviegoers will also get the chance to see the marvelous Judi Dench, as she plays Commander Root of the Haven police force.

The fantastical setting of this story is reminiscent of the world of Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, so if those adaptations are high up on your favorite list, then Artemis Fowl is one you’ll want to catch in theaters.
