Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Speaking of political change, let’s talk U.S. Representatives. Specifically, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known better by her initials, AOC. She’s the Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district and has already made quite the imprint on our country so far. At 29, AOC is the youngest woman to ever serve in the United States Congress and her “tell it like it is” attitude is taking republicans by surprise. In the best way possible!

She has high hopes for herself while she serves in Congress. She’s taking progressive stands for our population, including Medicare for all, the Green New Deal, abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, free public college, and higher taxes for incomes over $10 million. Along with this, she’s actively stood up for women’s rights and let’s be honest, her takedowns for Twitter trolls is inspiring.

"“Mentors of mine were under a big pressure to minimize their femininity to make it. I’m not going to do that. That takes away my power. I’m not going to compromise who I am. I wake up every day and I’m a Puerto Rican girl from the Bronx. Every single day.” – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez"
