Harry Potter fans have been mixing up the real Hogwarts

Harry Potter fans have been mistaking a University for the filming location of Hogwarts. But to be fair to them, it really does look like the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

It’s a fun experience for Potterheads to visit the filming locations used for Harry Potter. Unfortunately, if you don’t visit the right location, the experience is kind of watered down a bit. That is exactly what happened to some fans of the Wizarding World movies who were mistaking a University in Australia for the filming location of Hogwarts.

First reported by the Mirror. Fans have been flocking to the University of Sydney, Australia, believing the site was used for filming the Wizarding World movies. Unfortunately, the actual locations used are all in the United Kingdom.

To be fair though, when looking at images of the University of Sydney, you can see why this mistake has been made. The Gothic architecture that has been used in the University brings up memories of the Hogwarts grounds, especially the scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where Professor Mad-Eye Moody turned Draco into a ferret.

It is still a shame that fans have traveled that far however to assume they are visiting the actual location. Only to learn they haven’t actually visited the correct location. Maybe next time though.
