Clark Gregg delivers fun banter about his fan-favorite character Phil Coulson in the soon to be released Captain Marvel movie.

Clark Gregg recently spoke about Captain Marvel and his role as Phil Coulson in Captain Marvel with UpRoxx. We are excited to see more of Phil Coulson, beloved Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, following his rise to popularity after appearing in The Avengers and taking center stage with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show.

The UpRoxx interview shows off Gregg’s dry wit and humor while also giving fans some tasty morsels in anticipation of the movie. For starters, when asked how his character keeps dying and regenerating from The Avengers movie to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Gregg jokes, “The guy’s really hard to kill, apparently.”

When interviewer Mike Ryan compares him to Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th series, Gregg provides this great bon mot: “I think of Kenny, from South Park. He just dies at the end of every show.”

In another part of the interview, Ryan mentions how in Captain Marvel, Gregg gets to act out a classic action/cop entrance in which he dramatically takes off his cool sunglasses. The two banter about whether there will be cheering at that scene but Gregg in his dry self-deprecating way concludes: “It could very well get a, ‘Oh, for God’s sake! This guy? Again?'”

Of the “reveals” throughout this interview, Gregg confirms that Captain Marvel is a part of the long story that Marvel has been telling for over 20 movies.

“It’s one thing that they’ve had a batting average like this, doing great films, but to do this one giant story that all connects, I think is amazing,” Gregg says.

That makes sense since we know from the very end of Infinity War that Captain Marvel will play an important role in Endgame. Gregg also confirms that the film will show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in its early days where Coulson and Nick Fury are figuring things out.

“They don’t know what they really know about yet,” Gregg notes.

And of course, there’s brief talk about Captain Marvel’s cat, Goose.

When asked if Gregg got to meet the furry feline who has captivated the Internet well before the film’s premiere, Gregg dryly responds, “I can confirm that I met the cat.” Then when asked about the niceness of the animal, Gregg responds with a mysterious, “I can’t say anything more.”

So much secrecy around Goose the cat! Guess we’ll have to wait until March 8 to see why he was so coy about that interaction.
