Sirius Black and Remus Lupin: An examination of a friendship that we need more of
We all have our favorite characters in the Harry Potter series and, looking at Remus Lupin and Sirius Black, their relationship is an important one to explore.
Sirius Black is more than just the man framed with turning on his best friends. He is someone who lost his life because 13 years of it were spent in prison and then the next two, he was confined to his home so as to not get caught.
For 15 years, Sirius Black had to pretend and hide and you know who was at his side through that all? Remus Lupin. Even when the two hadn’t spoken, they were still there for each other because that’s the kind of friendship they had. So it isn’t surprising that many of us saw them as something more. Many wanted them to be together because they were the kind of characters who clearly loved each other.
Remus Lupin lost his best friends all at the same time. Peter Pettigrew disappeared, Sirius Black was sent to prison, and James Potter died. He was alone but he knew that Sirius couldn’t have been the reason behind the deaths of James and Lily. They were all friends who trusted each other and that means that even when they are separated, Remus and Sirius have each other’s backs.
Their friendship is one we can look up to and if there was a Marauders series and we found out that their relationship was something more, that wouldn’t surprise any of us. Honestly, it’d be a delight! That is, if we ever get that Marauders series we all want.
