An Avenger could have a cameo during the credits
While filmmakers have denounced rumors that any preexisting Avengers could appear in the Captain Marvel movie, that doesn’t necessarily include any mid-credit scenes, because those are separate from the actual film … and they often end up teasing upcoming storylines or responding to them in some way. (Remember Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s big post-credits scene?) According to one Redditor, Doctor Strange could have a cameo in a Captain Marvel credit scene.
Bridging the gap between the current Avengers timeline and the Captain Marvel ’90s setting, Doctor Strange could have used his time skimming through the multiple potential outcomes to contact Captain Marvel. However, given the fact that Fury already contacted Carol in the form of his pager, it seems like plot overkill to have another character contact her. Unless, of course, another character has extra information or technology that could help Carol, and therefore the rest of the heroes, stop Thanos.
In our opinions, we’re still rooting for a Rhodey or Tony (if not both) cameo in Captain Marvel’s credits scenes, because they are both definitely full adults in the ’90s. Some of their pre-Iron Man technology could ultimately help Carol’s future-self fight Thanos.
