Bill Nighly would love to appear in a future installment of Fantastic Beasts

In a recent interview, Bill Nighly, who appeared in the Harry Potter franchise, confessed that he would love to appear in a future installment of Fantastic Beasts.

Harry Potter fans will remember Bill Nighly as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour. He appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and was the one to read the Last Will and Testament of Albus Dumbledore, delivering Ron the famous Deluminator, Hermione The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry the Golden Snitch, which we later learned contained one of the Deathly Hallows, the Resurrection Stone.

Recently, the actor has been working on projects which include The Kindness of Strangers, Their Finest, and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu. Nighly spoke to Collider about his upcoming roles, and the conversation eventually turned to Fantastic Beasts.

The topic came up when Nighly and Collider spoke about how he was reteaming up with Johnny Depp, who he had worked with on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, in Minimata, which is being directed by Andrew Levitas.

Considering Johnny Depp is in the Fantastic Beasts franchise as Gellert Grindelwald, it was put to Nighly that he could team up with Depp in Fantastic Beasts. Nighly was clearly more than enthusiastic.

"You could work with Depp in Fantastic Beasts. You were in Harry Potter (The Deathly Hallows Part One), after all.Nighy: I would love to. Why am I not in the new Fantastic Beasts? What’s happening? I don’t understand how that happened."

The chances of him starring in Fantastic Beasts is doubtful. While there isn’t much known about Rufus Scrimgeour’s early life according to Pottermore, if we were to take a look at Wiki it puts his D.O.B in the late 1960s. So outside of the Fantastic Beasts timeline.

However, considering the changes made for Professor McGonagall’s character, you never know. We will just have to wait and see, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
