Frozen 2 (Nov. 22)

The Plot: Very little is known about the plot to the sequel of Disney’s 2013 blockbuster, though it will continue to follow sisters Anna and Elsa (voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel). Yes, that’s even with that big teaser.

In 2013, Disney released a little film called Frozen, about the bonds of sisterhood and a snowman that loved summer. The film became a cultural juggernaut, giving Disney the impetus to capitalize on it through any means necessary — including theme park attractions and a Broadway show — and won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Song.

The studio quickly announced a sequel, but considering how long these films take to make, it wanted to capitalize on their investment. So in 2015, it released the short, Frozen Fever in front of Tangled. The notorious 21-minute short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure followed in front of Coco in 2017. The latter received flack as it was originally intended to air on television and was quickly pulled from Coco screenings due to its length.

That all leads us back to the actual Frozen sequel, six years after the original film. Jennifer Lee returns as co-director after helming the first Frozen, but for a movie coming out Thanksgiving weekend, there’s been absolutely nothing revealed short of Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown joining up with the returning cast.

IMDB lists a premise about an “ancient mystery” in the kingdom of Arendelle but that hasn’t been confirmed. Look for a ton of information to come out around D23 in August, but until then we’ll all have to sing “let it go!”
