Moonstruck

Recipe: Tiramisu

What a better way to come to the end of this article than with Cher? Moonstruck is a 1987 American romantic comedy written by playwright John Patrick Shanley. Cher plays Loretta Castorini, a widowed, 37-year-old, Italian-American woman who falls for her fiance’s estranged brother, Ronny Cammareri (Nicholas Cage).

This 1980s classic rom-com is the story of two broken people finding love, even if they try to fight it. It would be helpful if I had Cher around to smack me and tell me to “Snap out of it,” as she does to Nicholas Cage (who barely passes as an Italian man).

The best way to end this list is with a dessert cart. Why else do you think the term “la dolce vita” (the sweet life) exists in Italian? An Italian wedding ends with a dessert table miles long and a meal at an Italian restaurant ends with a dessert cart (refer to the scene above).
