Bloomsbury Publishing has announced the official release date of the paperback version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Illustrated edition.

We found at just last year that all of the illustrated versions of Harry Potter would be made available in a paperback version. Soon after the announcement, paperback versions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone were available. Bloomsbury has now announced the official release date of the next paperback book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Illustrated edition.

Set to arrive on store shelves on August 22 this year. You can already place a preorder for the paperback edition via Bloomsbury.

Just like when Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone came out in paperback, the book will be noticeably smaller than the hardback edition. Which is great if you found the book too bulky or if it did not fit on your bookshelf.

However, that change to the size means there comes a compromise in the actual illustrations. Illustrated by Jim Kay, you will not get all of the illustrations in the paperback edition as you would the hardback edition. Bloomsbury estimate that it will contain 60% of the illustrations.

A pull-out poster of Diagon Alley is included in this edition, something which does not feature in the hardback edition.

Wizarding World fans can also expect another illustrated version of Harry Potter to arrive this year as well. The Goblet of Fire illustrated edition is set for release in October.
