Fear the Walking Dead cast will meet an ex-Savior in season 5 crossover

Fear the Walking Dead is headed for season 5 with an exciting new development — a new Walking Dead crossover straight from the Sanctuary.

Morgan (Lennie James) is the first Walking Dead cast member to head over to Fear the Walking Dead for a dramatic crossover, but he isn’t the last. Newly released photos for season 5 of Fear reveal an exciting new addition to the show.

Ex-Savior Dwight, played by Austin Amelio, will appear in season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead and as of now, there are few details about his new storyline. As far as we can tell from Dwight’s latest mugshot, he looks like he has been out on his own for some time. He still has his axe, and his blood-splattered clothes could be from a mix of walker and human encounters.

Dwight’s last appearance on The Walking Dead was season 8’s episode “Wrath.” Daryl allowed Dwight to escape with a set of car keys, vowing that he’d kill the ex-Savior if he ever returned. Our final glimpse of Dwight is him returning to his home, finding a note from his wife Sherry (Christine Evangelista), and a smile coming across his face — perhaps hope that he’d soon find her again.

Whether or not we’ll learn of Sherry’s fate on Fear is up in the air. She escaped Negan and the Sanctuary in season 7, left a pretty somber note for Dwight, and there’s been no real mention of her or clue of where she could be since.

Maybe Dwight has been searching for Sherry all this time? Fear the Walking Dead‘s charming cowboy John (Garret Dillahunt) may understand his pain, seeing as he searched forever to find June (Jenna Elfman).

Now if things didn’t turn out so well (aka Sherry is dead), then Dwight may be more vengeful and angry whenever he meets up with the Fear cast. And if that anger is there, imagine the exchange that could happen if and when Dwight comes across Morgan, who is easily not a fan of the Saviors.

Fear the Walking Dead‘s season 4 faced extreme changes with the death of Madison (Kim Dickens) and Nick (Frank Dillane). Our survivors first went up against the Vultures and then one very insane woman named Martha, and came out victorious both times.

At the end of the season, Morgan decided to stick around with Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Strand (Colman Domingo), Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) and the rest instead of going back to Alexandria. They found a new home, and the season ended on a hopeful note that they’d all work together to help fellow survivors.

Perhaps Dwight will be one of the survivors to end up at this new “sanctuary”? Whether he’ll be welcomed in is a big question mark we’ll wait to see answered when Fear returns.
