Harry Potter is the perfect example of a reluctant hero and what they can do

He doesn’t want to be a hero but Harry Potter is forced into being so when Voldemort tries to kill him and that’s one of the reasons why we love him so much.

Harry Potter didn’t ask to be the Boy Who Lived. Voldemort came into his world and tore it apart because he was afraid of a prophecy that he ended up making come true. Had Voldemort just let Harry go, left James and Lily Potter alone, he may have succeeded.

The problem is that Voldemort set the prophecy in motion the minute he killed James and Lily and tried to kill Harry. So, Harry’s entire life was him being reluctantly thrust into this life without his choosing. What if Harry didn’t want to be a hero? What would he be like if James and Lily were still alive?

There’s probably a part of Harry that was always going to do what was right, it is the part of him that is most like Lily and James. They both were part of the Order of the Phoenix and were trying to stop Voldemort because they knew what had to be done.

So, would Harry still have been a hero without their death? Probably, just maybe not as tragically so. He had to watch so many people die for his name and there was nothing he could do about it. So maybe if Voldemort hadn’t killed James and Lily, Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Mad Eye, and so many others would still be alive.
