The Mad Hatter from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is another popular classic, one that’s been adapted repeatedly—although the animated Disney version of Alice’s story tends to be the most recognizable version, followed closely by Tim Burton’s 2010 reboot.

Given the strangeness of Wonderland, the dreamlike world that Alice quite literally falls into, it’s easy to pull bizarre and compelling imagery from the story to use for a tattoo design. Apart from working with the many versions of Alice herself, readers can also ink characters like the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, and the Queen of Hearts to their skin.

Another favorite among Alice in Wonderland fans is the Mad Hatter, a quirky character Alice runs into and winds up having a tea party with. The Mad Hatter is known for his ridiculous riddles and poetry, and he tends to make snarky remarks as well. His personality is one that many readers love, so getting some version of him tattooed is a great idea for fans of Carroll’s world.

The great thing about tattooing Carroll’s characters—the Mad Hatter included—is that there are so many designs to choose from. Readers can get a tattoo similar to the  one pictured here, which resembles the illustrations often found in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. However, they can also choose to use Disney’s depiction of the Hatter, or even Johnny Depp’s interpretation. There are so many choices, and so many other aspects of Wonderland to add to the design.
