Is Dumbledore to Grindelwald what Harry Potter is to Lord Voldemort?

We know that one could not live while the other did for Harry and Voldemort but is the same thing true about Dumbledore and his old friend Gellert Grindelwald?

Dumbledore and Grindelwald have faced off against each other time and time again. Whether it was when they were friends or after when they were trying to take the other down, the two were linked to one another. But it begs the question: Is history repeating itself with Harry and Voldemort?

Throughout the series, the two are linked. They have to be together, have to survive at the hand of the other and then now, we’re seeing that Dumbledore had already been through this same kind of bond when he was dealing with Grindelwald.

The difference is that Voldemort was never a friend to the Potters and didn’t have a connection to Harry until he tried to kill his parents. So sure, history is repeating itself because Harry and Voldemort are connected in a way that is out of their control.

But it is very different for Dumbledore and Grindelwald. They were friends. Two people who were connected long before their past brought them together in a new way. Dumbledore cared deeply for Grindelwald, loved him, and, in the end, they had to meet once more.

We don’t know what is going to happen between Dumbledore and Grindelwald yet but it may be the means to an end for Grindelwald so that Dumbledore can succeed to where we see him at Hogwarts.
