Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper sing ‘Shallow’ live for first time in Vegas
Our obsession with “Shallow” rages on, as Bradley Cooper joined Lady Gaga on stage at her Vegas show to sing the hit from A Star is Born live for her audience.
Last Saturday, Lady Gaga pulled quite the guest on stage with her at her Las Vegas show. Currently, in residency at the Park MGM in Las Vegas, Lady Gaga closes out her show every night with “Shallow” from her movie A Star is Born.
Typically, she does it on her own… but if you have Bradley Cooper in the audience, you use that to your advantage. The thing is, we should all be crying right now. Because with this performance, Cooper and Gaga prove that if they wanted to, they could go on tour as Jackson and Ally. And we’d all be there with front-row tickets.
Fans cheered on as Gaga pulled Cooper onto the stage, headed to the piano and gleefully told him, “I even got you in-ears,” referring to the in-ear monitors singers wear while they perform. Cooper looked a bit bashful as fiddled with his equipment and then joked with the audience, “Jackson never used these.”
The two starred in the fourth remake of the film in 2018 and are currently both nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress at the Academy Awards for their portrayals of Jackson Maine (Cooper) and Ally Maine (Gaga).
Cooper, who also helped adapt the story and direct the film, is nominated for a multitude of awards, while Gaga also got an Oscars nomination for “Shallow.” The clear favorite to win the award, this song and its performance just confirms how influential it is to fans everywhere.
Having gone to her Enigma show myself the week before, the entire audience erupts into the song, scream-singing along and having the same cathartic moment that Ally does in the movie when she finally joins Jackson on stage to sing the song she helped to write.
Does this mean that “Shallow” is going to take home the Oscar? Not necessarily, but as previously stated, it is the favorite to take home the award. While Glenn Close has been taking home the awards this season for The Wife, Lady Gaga is clearly right behind her in the race for Best Actress as they both took home the Critics Choice award for their acting.
Will Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper win? Who knows, but now we have a live version of “Shallow” to keep us crying over A Star is Born for weeks to come.
