Jamie and Claire – Outlander
What you need to know: Jamie is a Scotsman from the 17th century and Claire is a WWII nurse from England. While this may seem problematic for an epic love affair, these two find a way. Of course, they do so with the help of some ancient, enchanted stones that allow them to roam freely around time and space.
Claire accidentally falls through the portal, landing in the middle of a Scottish battle with a British army, and has to take refuge among Jamie’s family. There she must quickly learn to assimilate to the new culture and political climate. Subsequently, she has to marry Jamie to keep her cover and they wind up falling in love.
Why we ‘ship them so hard: Who isn’t going to want a love to persist despite the physics of the space-time continuum? We would be monsters if we didn’t root for a couple that has overcome obstacles made out of the fabric of the universe. Of course, besides their obviously intertwined destinies, they are really good together.
You would think a woman removed from a man by two centuries wouldn’t make such a perfect match, but these two prove us all wrong. He is fierce and hot-blooded, and she is cool and rational. They both have designs on saving Scotland, and their differing approach makes for some exciting sexual tension.
