Eleanor and Chidi – The Good Place
What you need to know: Eleanor and Chidi are two of the protagonists on NBC’s clever show about the afterlife, The Good Place. They both wind up in the same place after their respective deaths, and forces unseen conspire to manipulate the goings-on in their lives.
Despite hundreds (possibly thousands) reboots of their time together, they still manage to maintain a super special relationship, although it’s not always what viewers and fans want for them. When divine intervention is involved, you can never count on things going the human way, so Eleanor and Chidi’s relationship swings wildly between companions, platonic friends, something a little more, and total love birds.
Why we ‘ship them so hard: Part of the reason this couple makes our vicarious hearts all aflutter is because we know they’re meant to be together. There’s none of the guessings about whether they will or they won’t, because we’ve already seen a version of their destiny. Although the architect, Michael, pulls a lot of strings that ultimately result in their relationship reincarnating over a series of “reboots,” we know the truth. Eleanor and Chidi love each other, and it’s just destined to be.
